Wind bell

Wind bell is the picture above. What is wind bell?

The outside body is made with metal and glass which has a bowl type of the size. The small part called “tongue” (ZETSU) is suspended by string inside, and a strip of paper is put ahead of the string to make sure it would be hit by a wind well.

Its sound is akin to voice of a bug of the bell cricket which tells autumn. To miss the humid hot summer, Japanese has felt taste of cool air by hearing the tone of the wind bell. It’s one of charming sights in summer in Japan.
